Personal \"Sea\" Space??????
We decided to go for a day sail from Haslar to Priory Bay. Drop the hook.Chill out, have lunch, sail back. Nicey nice. There were no other boats in the bay but, there was a boat hard on our tail obviously with the same thought in mind. They anchored, we gave them plenty of "space" and then did like wise. As soon as we dropped anchor another yacht appeared and dropped their hook between the two of us. They were only yards away (worying) and we felt compelled to shout out that we had 9 metres of line out and that they were directly above our anchor. Our concerns were they would snag our anchor and we would end up being dragged. They were that close. My point is - why is it (and it has happend on SO many occasions) must other boats insist on anchoring so close? Is it safety in numbers? Is it ...."well they are there so it must be ok so we'll do the same"?.... When there is SO much sea space, why do others have to anchor up so close? I just don't get it. Any thoughts?
