Perkins - Volvo Penta

All the small VP engines for the last 10-12 years or so have been made by Perkins from Japanese base engines, or in the case of the larger MD 55 type engines from a Perkins design that was used by Leyland in its cars in the 90's. The 2030 like yours is the same basic engine that was offered by Perkins as the Perama. The latest D series engines are also Perkins but a different design.

We have a Perkins Perama M35 - can confirm it is the same engine as the 2030 - however be aware that some filters etc are different sizes (don't know why - bizarre!). I would imagine parts are easier to source for the 2030 than the Perama M35 as most places have to order our parts from Perkins direct yet have shelves full of Volvo spares.

Jonny,

My friendly local motor mechanic matched the Volvo filter serial numbers and I got a load of spares for about £5 each.

Al, at Glasson, got me some Montego Diesel cam and alternator belts for the engine - might be worth asking him and Darren if there is a car base for yours??

I've just replaced my Volvo 2003 with a new D1-30. It is made by Perkins, and the new saildirve is made by Buhk, even though it's badged as a Volvo.
