I want to change the oil and fuel filter on my engine but I don't want to pay silly prices for the filters from the chandlers.
On my old Volvo I could get the equivalent filters from a motor factor at a fraction of the price.

Does anyone know the equivalent for this engine?

Thanks.

Its the same engine as the Volvo 2030. Any decent motor factors will cross reference for you. However hardly worth it for the couple of quid you save each oil change - unless you do massive hours.

You can get genuine Perkins filters from DiPerk at non marine price as well as a full range of Perkins spares. They are very helpful. I don't have their number to hand but it's easy to find via Google

Hy
My Perkins Perama was sold to me by our local official Volvo agent as Volvo Penta 2030 despite the Perkins label engraved on the engines block..
I share the same opinion as you.
Therefore I was buying during the last 121 years the following equivalent filters at a fraction of the Volvo price.
Considere that Volvo dont build filters!
One of the best known filter manufacturer is MANN.
As oil filter for my engine I use the MANN W719/30
As filter before the injection pump you can use MANN WK 815/80 or FRAM P 9458 or ACDELCO 1AFBDO 12

I hope this could be useful for you!

On Rogue, (a Moody 44), the Volvo Penta MD22L was a marinised Austin Montego 2l diesel engine. I think a Perkins Perama xx was also the same, (similar).

My local garage sourced me a few oil and fuel filters at a few quid each, and the yard at Glasson sourced a few cam belts from a local motor store.

The Vetus M4.14 in my current boat is a marinised Mitsubishi something. Mann and Baldwin Filters are a bit cheaper than the Vetus "Originals".

Once you have a part no any motor factors can cross reference it and supply you a filter, it is used on other engines fitted to cars but I cant remember which ones.

No. Completely different engine. 3 cylinder Japanese Perkins/Shimaru

I know it's a different engine :) I was merely trying to suggest that it will probably be based on a common engine with cheaper consumables. As Nick said, my memory served me badly.... The MD22L is similar to a Perkins Prima.

If you can find the common engine, you can usually find the cheaper parts - cross referencing part nos also works for things like filters.... Don't know about belts?
