hi, has anyone any experience of the above engine? I've been offered one and don't know about the suitability in a 29' long keeler. Would it be too big/heavy/etc.

I have recently helped my friend sell his, so have seen one. Several people viewed it, but found it too big for their boats. It all depends on the engine space of course. Also I've been told there are 2 types. The earlier type was to replace the petrol/paraffin engine in the greay Grey Fergusson tractor.

Sorry I cannot be more precise, but it may help you in knowing where to look, or who to ask.

These engines are, as you probably know, rated at about 33-38 HP although I have had them rated at up to 45 HP for specialist applicatins. I've no idea whether a P3 would be a good choice for your boat. But they are among the most unstoppable, reliable, unbreakable diesels ever made. I've run them in tractors for 30 years with oil/filter changes only & the heads have never been off. They would also pull the proverbial house down without stalling. Wonderful engines but, of course, relatively heavy compared to new stuff.
