my old 4108 has done over 12000 hrs and its time to come out for overhall. has anybody got a 4108 (1982) workshop manual or knows where I can get a copy, also any tips and advice from the experts would be a great help.the poor old donkey is suffering from low compression I think as starting is getting poor, but when running it leaks more oil than it burns, also any info on the hurth.? gear box would help as mine seems to wine a bit loud I think due to lack of oil at some stage of its life .thanks

Jeeze! I seem always to be reccomending this firm lately but I assure you I have nothing to do with them. I am sure they have some old 4108s and certainly tons of spares.
Contact Marlec Marine of Ramsgate.

Free download (with some strings!!)...

Bill, you can download a 4.108 manual free at Piet Bos's very useful website. Problem is, it's in Dutch! But the diagrams may help. Or you could perhaps find an online translation facility to translate it.

You might be overdoing it, Byron!

I contacted them a week ago (having seen your recommendation) and they sounded rather bogged down with work. Always worth a try though.

I have just re-built my 4-107. I would recommend Golden Arrow marine in Southampton for parts. An engineering firm advised that it would be difficult if not impossible to get new liners. Golden Arrow not only obtained genuine Perkins items, but they were cheaper than other engine suppliers. Let them have the engine No and a list of parts and they do the rest.
