Trying to source one of these - the electrical spade fitting has snapped off the top. Been quoted 40+ quid for one by a Perkins dealer and they aren't sure that it is even the right one. Thought I had found one on ebay, a Land Rover one for 99p, but the thread pitch was wrong when it turned up. Have tried all the usual motor part dealers but there are literally hundreds of different type. So without a part number or a thread size and pressure rating, it is all a bit of a guess. Because of the age it is probably an imperial thread although it is not far off a 1mm metric fine and has a slight taper on it.

Know its a daft question but I can see the remains of the spade connector .. Would it be possible to solder a wire to it .. If you can find a nut that fits the old one a die could then be run down your Landrover one .. Be worth a go ..

The solder idea is not a bad one ... but also you may find that like my solenoid that lost a spade, you can drill a start hole and drive a small self-tapper into the terminal tag joint.

I have a switch in my engine that is not used ... if I was in UK - you'd be welcome to it but then I have a hole to plug !!

I have cosidered bodging it but my concern is that I could make it leak and have nothing to block the hole. At least in it's current condition I can still use the engine. As the thread on the other one is much coarser I don't think recutting it would be successful.

Thanks for all that. An agricultural engineer would seem to be the next port of call. Someone else has also suggested that the thread is 1/8BSP so that likes like the way to go.

This is the Land Rover one:

Thought I had struck lucky - otherwise identical apart from the thread - another one to add to my increasing collection of variously sized oil switches. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
