Got the chance of fitting a second hand lightly used Perkins 200 Series twin cylinder 10HP engine to my 23' yacht over the winter, this will replace a single cylinder BMW D12 that runs fine but is a bit noisy. Anyone any feedback on this Perkins?

Thanks Ed

Excellent smooth running well balanced little engine. Go for it if it's big enough to push the boat along you should be very happy with it.

This is the base engine that Volvo Penta use for their 2010,2020 & 2030 range so should be OK. The only problem I can see is getting all the marinising bits for it such as the exhaust manifold/heat exchanger Jabsco pump, marine Gearbox etc etc. Try Lancing Marine who may be able to supply some parts, but I suspect you may have to get VP parts which I suspect may make it expensive! VP also fit a heavier flywheel I think + other improvements. Good Luck anyway.

Thanks Dick,

Lucky for me it comes already marinised, it was in a yacht that lost it's keel !! Gentleman decided it was to expensive to replace so broke the boat up, a friend of mine was in the right place at the right time and bought the engine complete including exhaust shaft and prop, he has now decided it is to small for his boat and has offered it to me at a bargain price, it looks perfect but I know noyhing about them and what to look for.

Cheers Ed
