Hi,

Looking for advice on reinstalling my penta 2002 freshwater cooled heat exchanger.

I just can’t get this back o. The engine with every pipe nicely sealed.

Any ideas? Can you bend the pipes?

Mine look ok but I am wondering if they have bent over time and now don’t apply enough pressure to make the seals.

Thanks in advance

Tom

He says that he can’t get the heat exchanger back on the engine with every pipe nicely sealed.

I can’t think why the pipes would bend but I didn’t get involved with them when I had a VP. Good luck

Problem may be that whilst removing the pipes have just been loosened at one end and then sprung out the as its the easiest option
They should br loosened at both ends
The plipes are sprung into place with the connections being loosely connected and then tightened

You have to ensure the pipes are seated properly BEFORE tightening the clamping yoke on them. Otherwise they leak. The yoke is really only to hold them in place. You can't use the yoke to pull them into place; they will always leak if you try to do that.

Are you using new seals? I feel your pain, I'm just trying to get the pipes into my rebuilt sea water pump!
