Hello Winsbury,

I have a friend with a Pegasus 700, I think not far from you; I'll drop him a line about your Owners Association.

He's had a spot of bother with keels so may be keen to discuss this for advice or just to pass on the message.

Andy

Hi Andy, that's great, yes please let him know, plus he'll have the honour of being one of the inaugural members too !

Hi Sailorman, brilliant, that's exactly the kind of story that would be great to know more about for the group. Looking forward to reading it and welcoming you on board !

Association/group application complete. Repairs nearly complete...

what a lovely boat - sorry but the group is for the Gordon V Harris designed GRP Pegasus' 700, 800 and 1100 ( plus any others models in the same family tree which might emerge )

Talking of the 1100, only one built if I remember correctly. Last seen heading off towards Holland in about 1995....any more news?

I dont know how many were built but there's an 1100 for sale in Holland at the moment: http://www.theyachtmarket.com/boats/sailing-boats/pegasus/1100/

I reckon its a bit of a handful lowering that mast using the A-frame !

That's interesting. Looks a little different from how I remember, also about 10k dearer than she was in the early 90s. Certainly looks like a Pegasus with the cast cleat/pushpit bases. No1 was a white hull with moulded in windows and I recall stripy upholstery but that could have changed. The one I saw was used in the brochure, which I still have at home, I'll check it and see if I can upload. The mast lowering gear wasn't on her originally, I remember helping Kevin Taylor to move the mast at the yard once, nearly killed me it was so heavy!

Perhaps its a different boat.

Yes its the cleats which are the giveaway clue is a Pegasus. Price seems a bit steep to me so perhaps they are just testing the market.

On our 700 the mast is most difficult to control when its nearing the horizontal as it has a tendency to want to swing left or right, the mast on the 1100 is double the length so presumably eight times the weight so must be a real monster to lower, the sales blurb says it can be done afloat - I'd like to see someone try but personally would keep a respectful distance away.

Managed to lower the mast on my 800 (135) whilst afloat using the built on brackets and guys. Great boats, sold her 9 years ago.

Hi I have just found your thread
We own a Peasus 800 no.103
Would be interested to learn anything about the boat and generally about the mark. We have owned her for two seasons now and are really enjoying sailing her around the harwich area.

Somewhere, buried in storage, I have the self build guide to Pegasus 800 put together by Gordon Harris. I'll dig it up in time and make it available online onto a group. I also have a publicity brochure.

Used to keep my wing keel, fractionally rigged Pegasus 800 at the Pegasus yard in Oulton broad. Lots of fun times.
