I understand now, I already have a set of charts for the coastal world and I mean world, on a disc, but can't plug GPS in, I am hoping some whizzkid can find a way of using these charts with a suitable program, the charts are older C-map ones, but still very useable.

Hi,

It looks good, but I can't find the BSB charts anywhere on the Web. Any advice, please?

I downloaded it about 4 months ago and everthing was fine ,it seems to have all the features you would possibly need and takes all the inputs from gps etc
You can read the info on his website before you decide to download.
It also comes with some basic charts and info about scanning your own charts.

At LIBS Maptech (now under new management) will be doing an interesting deal of Offshore Navigator (a new version called ONLIte) plus a portfolio of charts for £99.99. They are also offering to up-grade charts bought under the old management.

Full details will be in PBO Jan issue - on sale about15th December.

Sounds interesting

Hmm... I thought that C-map began releasing charts on CD only recently, how old are your "old charts"?
The current C-map charts on CD (so called "C-map NT"), they can be used for example by Raytech, NavPak, MaxSea, Logbook. But I don't know if any of them would be suitable for your charts. And they're all pricey anyhow.
One alternative could be grabbing the 5 navionics CD covering the whole Med (apart from the difficulties you had with their site, it must be possible - I could give them a call from here if that helps), and then purchase the full package (Sailware Cruise) from SW&N.
It costs 516 €, but good chances are that all the Navionics charts included in the "Sailplan" will work with it.
In fact, I used the charts included in the "Sailplan" on the demo version of the "Sailware Cruise", no probs at all.
I assume that they should work just as well with the "non-demo" version, which is obviously capable of interfacing with GPS and other instruments.

I have found out that it is an equivalent for NOS. However, they are all American coast so not a lot of use for UK waters.

Re: Ozi-Explorer ....

You're right about the benefits of going for the registered version of Panavue for their free image stitcher. This is absolute magic. If you use the manual stitch option, it's impossible to see the join. I have a load of charts running on Ozi, stitched by Panavue and absolutely spot on accuracy. The big benefit (I think) is that you still have the paper charts as back-up in case of electronics failure.
