Yeah and it needs rubbing down and varnishing properly, the leaves don't match the centre section. So a few more threads to come. Which sandpaper to use, which varnish, how many coats?

Never mind all that; where on earth are you going to find some matching offcuts to make the fiddles?

OK, I admit a recent PBO moment: two boathooks, wooden poles with brass fittings: taken back to wood and 10 coats of varnish* (£40 total materials plus labour) rather than buying new.

I suppose if I'd bought them they wouldn't have been anywhere near as nice though.
