Hope no one minds a post not related to working on boats, but there does not seem to be a way to email the correct person @ PBO about an odd problem with their subscription renewal process. I received the invite to renew, by snail mail, and as in past years logged in and went to the indicated web site to do so. I put in my CC payment info, and even got an email from PBO confirming that I would be charged. for the renewed subscription.

Immediately, a 'place holder' one dollar charge appeared on the account. That's normal for such a transaction.
Then, things got weird after a couple of days. That charge disappeared and nothing took its place.
I now am wondering if I really have a renewal (and will probably know for sure in a couple of months...) and will receive it for free.
Or is something amiss in their magazine distribution company, Magazines Direct??

While it would be nice to "get it for free" it would not be right. And then, its a great magazine and we have nothing like it over here in the States. (No slight intended for Good Old Boat, it's a much smaller magazine with a more limited scope of material. )

So, having seen the generally high level of discourse on this form for several years, I got to wondering if any of you UK sailor folk might know what is going on with this magazine?
Thanks, and you may return to your regular forum diet of solving boat problems..... :)

It probably evens out. I took out a 2-year digital subscription to Yachting Monthly. Access denied after 1-year, restarted after an email pointing out that a 2-year subscription had been paid for, then permanently denied a month or two later!

Subsequent emails never returned and I lost interest.

Download the Readly app, monthly subs are about £8. I routinely download 5 or 6 magazines, including PBO and YM, so it saves me paying out for individual magazines plus I can get them anywhere there’s an internet connection, no chasing round looking in newsagents. And if I find I’m no longer interested in a magazines, then I simply don’t bother to download it again: no subscriptions to cancel.
