Hi

Does any one know where I can get a copy of the recent article (missed the issue). Is there a suggested way of doing this and does anyone know of a good 'how to' guide?

Thanks

Alistair

Keep an eye open for a copy of one of Indespension's old trailer manuals. Dont know when they were last published but they told me all needed to know when building a camping trailer and later a boat trailer for a Sea Wych

Obvious answer to your question about the PBO article is, "from the on line Copy Shop", but if it is very recent it may not yet be available

What sort of size trailer are you looking at. I still have the Indespension Trailer manual somewhere. Maybe I can help you.

HI

Its only for a small GP 14, would the indespension guide be overkill?

It covers quite a range of trailer types and sizes but there are two or three alternatives for that size of dinghy.

Lots of info as well and of course it was Indespension's catalogue of trailer parts.

At 50p when I bought mine a worthwhile purchase.

Buy an old dinghy trailer and put some 200Kg suspension units on it http://www.towsure.com/product/Trailer_Suspension_Units_with_Pressed_Hub_200kg_4CWT.

I did this on my clinker dinghy trailer and it transformed the ride. Which for a wooden boat was a blessing.
An old trailer avoids all the VOSA testing rigmarole.
+1.
Even fairly decent trailers on eBay are not that expensive.
I would look for an older style one with bolt on suspension units, a lot of the newer ones have them integral with the axle.
I think the rubber units harden with age.
There are some trailers out there with a tranverse leaf spring, might be worth a look.
You can also improve the ride by fitting 10inch wheels, but this may make loading awkward.

I advise you not to do what I did, I bought a combi trailer which is really nice, at a good price, but got another boat with it.....
