PBO gets a new editor

Why all the corporate bull****? Why cant they tell us whats really happening? Is Sarah fed up? Or is she up the duff? Has she fallen out with the boss? I would read what has been announced as the journo equivalent of a politician spending more time with his family!

Err....they did! Funnily enough, the truth is that she is leaving to go freelance. No cloaks or daggers I'm afraid, personal choice. Boring I know.

You can follow her future sailing exploits on twitter http://twitter.com/sailingsarah

You'll be in direct competition with Sarah now then!

I've been in magazine publishing for 20 plus years and I can't remember anyone voluntarily going freelance before. Not in a specialist field anyway. Shame, I liked what she was doing or I wouldn't have subscribed.

I am sure it will be a level playing field

I can take the competition

I am not trying to make my whole living from sailing journalism

my overheads are tiny - she has a bigger boat to support than I do

as for the magazine....

I think that this posting above was most pertinant -

" Can't be too basic for me (recent subscriber) I had all sorts of fun with polysulphide yesterday! "

us old farts have been around for too long and have very little new to learn

we know enough to get by

so I have put in a list of possible subjects

five beautifully illustrated pages on each

1/The tiller - what is it for?

2/ this rope here - what does it do?

3/ this big flappy thing - what do I do with it?

4/these hooky things on chains - which is the best one to use?

I believe that's what James Jermaine did, although that may have been a synonym for 'retired'. I don't think that David Pugh will be an inferior substitute, he writes lots of sense and has a smallish, oldish sailing boat.

Hopefully they will also return to more mobo coverage too.

What would you like to see covered? There is far less to muck about with on a mobo, and engine maintenance is pretty neutral as a subject. If you have ideas I'm sure they would like to hear them but I can't think what it would be.

let me help

1/Wakes - aren't they lovely?

2/gen sets - how high up on the bow should they be?

3/ Gladioli? what colour is best?

4/ Marina Etiquette

5/ Piping on white upholstery - blue, red or maroon?

any mobos care to suggest some topics for us flappy blokes?

None of these are mobo only though really. I could easily strap a genny to Magic, get drunk and discuss upholstery at the top of my lungs in a marina. When I get up to 3kt and over I produce a heck of a wake too ;)

Indeed - I've never suffered from motorboatalists being antisocial in a marina, but I and a bunch of other raggies (forumites no less) have been asked to pipe down by one :D
