....is supposed to be a 'famous sailor'. Anybody heard of him? Why's he famous?

There was a Patrick Carr who was one of the five victims of the 1769 Boston Massacre, an event attributed to the sparking off of the American War of Independence. He was a leather worker though but another of of the victims was a sailor. ??

Unlikely, Rosie was far too young. He may well have ended up wearing leather, though. And going out with sailors.
