Passage planning - practicalities

The extent of the passage plan depends on the situation. The wording of the solas V regulation 34 states:

5. Small vessels and pleasure craft - Regulation 34 applies to all vessels. For small vessels and pleasure-craft the degree of voyage planning will be depend upon the size of vessel, its crew and the length of the voyage. The MCA expects all mariners to make a careful assessment of any proposed voyage taking into account all dangers to navigation, weather forecasts, tidal predictions and other relevant factors including the competence of the crew.

It is still is not defined as to the extent of record keeping of the passage plan so perhaps a mental note of these points in some situations may be sufficient?

All exempt. Not until you get outside the Solent.

I thought all this was common knowledge by now, it's been discussed often

All passages. The Solent is under harbour control, therefore appears to be deemed a harbour, or summat like that.

I\'d forgotten about that

I will pop into Holyhead CG and get a leaftet. Without being rotten, I'ts a useless piece of paper until you have to use it. I know that it's required under SOLAS V, but just where would you stick it on your boat so that in the case of emergency anyone could find it, understand it and then put it into practise ???? (ie planes waggling their wings and doing circles over you? - How would you see them at night?)
