As usual, whilst preparing for a short Canarian Cruise, the fickle finger of fate wags a bit. ?

We had planned to take two yachts in company. But the owner of one has just been diagnosed with kidney stones. So thats out for him, we go solo. At least we have agreed we will send him our pictures if he promises not to send us his....

Next then, book berth in Tazacorte, west side of La Palma. No room at the Inn. So change booking to Santa Cruz. Cool, but that's miles nearer. We are leaving at 11 tomorrow morning regardless. Nothing worse than crew mooching about getting needy. So with the weather looking great, gonna probably head across north of La Palma and go right round to enter Santa Cruz Monday afternoon. If weather goes light on way once past Tenerife can always left hand down a bit and go straight in. Flexible!

Will hire car Tuesday for a whizz around La P. Then off to Gomera Wednesday....berth booked, not taking a chance.

After that, dunno. But for once have time onside for staged bimble back to Lanzarote. Don't need to be back until 25th, but even that can be altered at a push. Hoorah.

So we can keep a number of options free. If a Doombug lockdown happens next week, we just sail back home.

What has also been pleasant is getting things ready, mostly not by me. ? The owner and his oppo have completed tidying, fixing and cleaning. Victual bought. Mrs S has baked a fruit cake and cooked and frozen first nights scran. We have been out this morning, bit of boat handling practice, tacking, reefing and man over boarding. Stopped at diesel dock, bunkers topped off.

So around 1100 tomorrow we should be under way and making way with open minds and a moderate northerly breeze. Huzzah. ?

Say hello to our boat if you are in Santa Cruz, and I’d visit Masca any chance you get on the Tenerife/La Gomera leg. It was the loveliest anchorage I’ve found for ages as you know. I think we spent over a week there in 2 visits this year. The only boat there most nights after crowded days of people in ribs just anchored up for a beer and a swim.

For others, I’ve attached a picutre.

Hiya. Ive not really got an anchor minded crew.....? Probably the only place we might pit stop in Tenerife will be San Miguel. Was considering the rather nice Las galetas now they've got some pontoons but the boat is a rather chunky Hanse 445 so may be a tad tight.

We stayed in Las Galetes 3 time and lots of room on visitors usual pontoon and plenty of room between pontoons for our 42 footer. Nice if slightly concretey place. Some lovely cheap and not so cheap restaurants.

Ah top tip, thanks. I've been there by road a couple of times pre marina. I like that kinda old but actually not very old canaries if you know what I mean.

Recent sailing has been short hops(!) and still have limited range from boat so looking for easy limps ashore. ?
