Part-Exchanging a Boat

Looking at what has been selling in our club recently its buyers of the bigger more expensive boats that seem to be keen to buy/sell and have the funds to to do so.
The lower price stuff is virtually at a standstill, with only the odd new boater providing any life.
One owner literally gave a boat away.

Interesting given that the used mobo market generally has been quite active as far as selling is concerned over recent years with a lack of stock being experienced by some brokers (an appeal for boat to sell is writ large on James Dicken’s advert in MBY this month) and finding a boat being quite difficult. Perhaps there are regional variations?

It might have something to do with the type of boat up for sale. ?
Venerable old net curtain plodders with Pink or Green Brocade and that certain odour may not have much appeal to a generation looking for something more whizzy and who have glossy magazine lifestyle aspirations.?

Latest arrival is a SC42 or SC45 which was previously based on the Thames of all places.

I'm motivated to change up my boat this year. Motivated, but not quite motivated enough to go through the process of selling her first.

I know there are part-ex opportunities on stock boats, but I'm looking for something that is 10 years old and looking to trade from my £200k boat to a £500k boat.

Any one recommend or have experience of a broker that has the imagination and muscle to pull off deals like these?
Hi I’d have thought you will have every dealer in the uk wanting you deal with you so I’d be very piccy for the best deal.
can I ask what you already have and what you are looking for ? Private message will do.

Also what we've found as buyers. By the way is it me, or is the Dicken's website like something from the dawn of the internet?

If people think they can just look local at boats , they are naive imo.
Some buyers are naive and some brokers too
Scala, compared to some the Dicken’s sight is less than Dickensian
This last couple of Years I have been helping people choose and look at boats
Been the length and breadth of the UK plus the Netherlands and Spain
Bit of France too
Boats from 50 to 350 K
Generally my observations are that good condition and well presented stock Has been selling amazingly close to the asking price.
Must admit some niche market boats do/have taken up to 12 months to shift but not too ‘discounted’ as it were
I have only been involved with ‘part ex’ dealings at the lower end of the figures I have mentioned
So I have no real experience or knowledge to impart on that scenario
For the buyer
‘Beware’ as they say
In that it is worth travelling to find ‘The Boat’
For the ‘Broker’
Be aware!
Keep your bloody web sights up to date
Plus remind your Clients that green mould on the outside and damp stuff and personal ‘stuff’ aboard doesn’t help
The used market is fairly Strong
Boats are selling in spite of the above!
