Part 1 registration help please!

Hello all, my lovely ship is going up for sale next week and she is part one registered, what I'm wondering is can I keep the name? I won't be buying immediately but hopefully next year so can I put the name on retention like a car reg?

yes you can.

you can retain the name through the registry so you sell without a name

Thanks for that, the registry doesn't appear to have stepped into the 20th century yet so not much info online!

The lady that I dealt with in Cardiff was really helpful
She explained that if I registered my new boat (that I didn't yet have) on the register, she would keep the application open, thus keeping the name.
I let her down and eventually told her that I didn't want the name.
There was no problem - and they even refunded my application fee - I didn't ask or expect that.
Later, we changed our mind - yet again - the name happened to still be available and our current registration was processed.
Really helpful - even though we were a real "pain in the arse"

So, my advice is just give them a call - I think you will find them really helpful
