Parker 31 vs ......?

Funnily enough, it was this thread that first started my interest in the 31. Six years later and I own one. Reading Slowboat’s comments about why Parker went bust answered a few questions for me. I always have thought Parker offered something no other yacht builders did at the time : A lift keel boat that went like the clappers, was very well made and with excellent accommodation. I suppose the cost put many off. The 31 was £36k in 1987 compared to £30k for a Moody 31.

I believe that David Parkinson at Fosdyke Yacht Haven acquired the moulds, and would have built one to order when I was there, but I think that it would be a labour of love. There was a Parker 31 on the ARC Portugal rally last year. They got caught out in Biscay through storm Miguel they were relieved to get in but it showed what a capable boat they are.

It looks like the moulds for the 285 and 335 are for sale via eBay and Apolloduck currently. £14k Including the rights!

I think they are visible in the yard if you look on google earth
