Parafin/kerosene and eberspachers

Wallas also suggest 3 to 5 % iso propyl alcohol to dry the fuel, comments ?

I presume you're referring to Wallas heaters running on diesel, but perhaps you could clarify?

From memory (my last boat had a Wallas paraffin heater) isopropyl alcohol is used with paraffin only if waxing or gumming becomes a problem.

This site had some useful info on both types of fuel (apropos Wallas heaters, but the info is largely generic). Note in particular the caution about deterioration and storage of paraffin:

Amongst other things it cautions sternly about using isopropyl alochol in fuel tanks shared with diesel engines. It is handy, though, for thinning Coppercoat...

Very interesting thread. My new (To me) D1 ex po was piped up and run, more smoke than a battle skip laying a white smoke screen.

So ran on a mix of parafin and petrol, within 2 minutes of firing up only a heat haze from the exhaust, hardly any smell and boy did the cabin outlet get hot, so next project is to tee into system with a valve into a small tank of the mix.

All the throbbing of cumbustion has gone, nice continous combustion with a slight wiff when on red fuel.
Thanks for all the comments.

Petrol in an Eberspacher. Interesting

Tis only a controlled fire fully enclosed and the mix was about 100/1 in order to get more heat in the combustion chamber not intened to runn 100% of the time.
