Pair of Tradewind 35's for sale.

VAT to be paid, so not as good as it appears, prices have tumbled as of late even for Tradewinds, with few available at any one time, prices can be optimistic, I think there are better bargains out there...

If you have to add 10k for vat making 60 total then I reckon its expensive. After 20 years as a sail training boat its likely to be well worn. Maybe 50 in good nick so say 40 allowing 10 for refurb.

I do know that they had a very substantial refit in the last year, my nephew was the skipper of one until this spring and he supervised the refit, probably more routine maintenance than many privately owned yachts and he would have ensured the cadets kept her clean and tidy. However certainly well used, I never knew where he'd be from Poole to Skye.

It's a tired sail training boat configured below for a large crew and with few of the refinements a private owner would expect. Price is at the top of the range for a perfect private example in pristine condition. Certainly not a "bargain". No doubt it is thoroughly well maintained but all the same...
I can only see one for sale. Where is the second?

VAT not paid? Suspect that must be a typo, it can't possibly be a £60K boat. (How could it be VAT not paid if it has been a UK sail training vessel for years? Anyway, unless it was bought abroad it surely predates VAT ?)

Halve that and you're about right.

Built 1998, so would normally have attracted VAT.

Is that being sold by current manufacturer's?
Yes, but it's a used one. I gather they are acting as brokers.
I know the manufacturers have a supremely bizarre idea of the value of their new Tradewinds but that can't excuse trying to sell a used one for twice it's value.

.
Seems very expensive to me.

I bought a boat from the sea cadets and had a lot of hassle getting a bill of sale. OK for me because the boat was less than a tenth of that price, but be careful.

I know they're slow and heavy and not exactly spacious, but they are a rather wonderful looking thing. Always liked them...they do look like a "proper" boat if that's your thing.

Yes, but it is a 23 year old Blondecell built boat - although from the details a well equipped one in good condition.

ST50s and a manual anchor winch? Not that well equipped. What else is original and at the end of its useful life I wonder.

I've sailed one of those. The RYA sometimes used to charter them in for YMI exams and updates. Old fashioned, was like going back to my yoof. Needs a bit of care manoeuvring with the long keel. But long distance, yeah, would be great.

Well maintained iirc.
