Painting topsides

My boat lives on a swinging mooring so no matter how one tries to protect the bow topsides, it gets chafed and scratched by the mooring buoy. I currently use a bow fender which sits inside the bob stay for the bowsprit.
I've painted the topsides over the 22 years I've owned the boat with two pack. International and then Jotun. I'm considering painting this year with something like Toplac or Jotun Hard Top One, Pilot II or Pilot ACR.. Then there's a choice between alkyd or acrylic. Gloss, or semi sheen. Single pack would make touching up easier, and I presume it's OK to paint single pack over two pack.

Any advice based on experience appreciated.

Toplac is as good as any single pack, particularly ar colour retention making touch up easier.

It's a shame to move away from two pack.
I repainted a boat with Toplac and swore I would never do it again.
Two pack is much harder wearing, the only downside is that you have to mix it up first which makes small jobs slightly more fiddly to do, but you'll be well aware of that.

Is there anything else you could do to reduce the damage from the mooring buoy?

Sadly not. I previously had a soft inflatable which was great, when I had a Sigma 33. When the PLA took over the moorings the inflatable buoys all began to have problems deflating, so were swapped for yellow hippos. I'm not too concerned about scratched topsides, so may just leave them. The interior looks good and so do the decks etc.

Did you mean as good as any two pack ? Or just in comparison with other single packs ? Jotun just have a better colour range.

In absolute terms. The 105 blue I used was still going well after 10 years and touch up from the same tin was perfect.
