Painting toe rail

Folks the previous owner seems to have painted one of the toe rails on my boat but not the other

I was going to paint it

What's the best paint for this job? Surely a spray paint because it's fiddly? And I will need to prime it?
It would be good to get a recommendation of a brand/type of paint

P. S before anyone says anything about the deck colour - my girlfriend picked it.

The toe rail looks like aluminium. Cannot think why anybody would want to paint it.

BTW remind your girlfriend that she picked a colour that is excellent for heat absorption. Not good when the temperature is like it is this week!

The other one is painted black
Maybe I should just leave this one. Will save me a job.

In Scotland this weather doesn't happen too often (understatement) so should get away with it!

Paint one red, the other green...

But being an ornery bugger, I'd have to paint portside green and starboard ref

Sounds like one toe rail has been damaged and replaced, but a non-matching one has been fitted.

I suggest you paint them both, badly, with lots of overspray. Then you will have to repaint the decks.

They are the original toe rails, it's just that one has been painted and one hasn't, think I'll just leave it though!
