Yes, that's what I did with my Delta. Galvaspray or some such name. You need an etch primer on a galvanised surface, also available at most DIY stores. It lasted surprisingly well and after a season of anchoring virtually every day was still quite bright and mostly rust free.
A friend of mine has used some stuff from MG Duff [the cathodic protection specialists] called Zingard. He reckons it's the Dog's Knees. It's on the M.G. Duff website.
It’s also interesting to paint your anchor if you are anchoring in clear waters.
Before leaving your boat, you can go over your anchor with your dinghy and check your anchor, if it is well set or not!
On my anchors, I always had also a short line (1 to 2 meters) attached to the trip line hole and, on the other extremity, a very small white buoy.. Useful to locate your anchor if it is completely set under the sea bottom..
Hammerite Gold has protected the anchor well. Mind you it does look a bit ostentatious, anchoring with a gold anchor. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
i would get it re galvanised, find a local fabrication firm that have a regular collection from a galvanisers. they would not charge more than 15 or 20 quid

I had mine done last year by a firm in Southampton - industrial galvanisers - charged by weight, my 25yr old 25lb CQR cost about £60 to shotblast and regalvanise - looks great now, just like new.
Re -galv is the 'correct' and longest lasting answer - however its pricey - I gave mine a coat of white hammerite last year and is holding up well ( but will wear off rapidly if used much)
I have read here many times that chain will not be accepted for regalvanising if it has been painted. No idea whether this applies to the whole length or just depth markers.

Not exactly, before regalvanising a painted chain the paint should be removed, usually with a gas torch to burn the paint, after the acid bath used before galvanisation should remove everything..
