These days even nitromors is so weak its OK on plastics.

I've even used it on hypolon on Avon dinghies.

Get an old bit of grp and try it, but in my experience it's fine and does a good job.

Don't use an old can of the good stuff, get the modern weak stuff.

Your risk though.

I needed some, but fell over backwards at the cost. The salesperson, obviously out of hearing range of the boss said "Buy our concrete graffiti stripper, Its the same stuff, different label, half the price!"

I did, it worked great, no damage to the gelcoat, removed all the badly applied varnish from a previous owner.

Still got some, cant identify it as it is in a white plastic tub and the label has long gone.

Worth buying a small quantity of graffiti stripper and testing it?

Thank you all for comments, and info. I'll go with strippet max and do a test peice first
I used loads of it when we bought our Dragonfly. We had 20 years of antifoul accumulation, flaked and overpainted in multiple soft/hard layers. I looked like a smurf for a week or so, but it got it off with no grp damage. About 10 applications required for that. Yours will be much easier.

Nitromors used to be methylene chloride, very effective but bad for health. It is supposed to be banned but is readily available. It softens GRP though. I would not use it in an enclosed space but OK out in the open.

Nitromors is now caustic soda but seems fairly dilute. I'm guessing that Strippit might be more concentrated.

Strippit comes as powder. Caustic plus something very like wallpaper paste, to enable it to cling, and stay wet.
