Duck punt build went very well
except.....
I used tape and polyester on the outside seams of the boat
I painted undercoat onto the bottom
seemed fine in most places
then I put on a coat of gloss and it has peeled back in a series of small slits an inch long and 1mm wide to reveal the ply underneath
it seems fine where the glass tape is - but all the problem areas are where there was no tape and just a small skim of polyester over a screw hole or dent
what did I do wrong?
not enough time for a full cure before painting?
too damp in the garage?
wrong sort of paint?
what do I do now?
sand it back to roughen it up and paint again with the same stuff?
wipe it with acetone?
for undercoat I used this
http://www.ronseal.co.uk/products/kn...-and-undercoat
for topcoat I used
http://www.ronseal.co.uk/paint/gloss-paint
it all went wonderfully on the inside of the boat where I used epoxy for the joints and fillets
no problem between epoxy and the paint the only problem is over the ployester

there are some films of the build on the end of this page on this blog
