I haven’t been able to find any recent info on the deep water moorings at Paglesham - like who to contact for permission to use them and whether or not they’re actually safe to use etc?

I’ve heard they aren’t in particularly good nick and are prone to dragging.. and some people have said they’re free for 24hr periods only? Though this is all historical from what I can gather. I’ve also seen some comments about the landing options and in some instances landing not being welcomed at all? Wondering if this is still the case. I say that cautiously as I’m well aware that we can all have different experiences and I don’t want to sound like I’m having a pop at anyone.

Any info welcome ??

Thanks.

Still as described on p104 of ECP Edn 5 as far as I know, in print or in Imray Explore v

For as much as I love the ECP, I’m not sure it covers what I’ve asked (other than landing options noted at the time of print) Not that it should do really. I guess I’m just after some recent knowledge.

Well, the moorings below the boatyard are managed by the RSA so you can ask them to borrow one. Moorings opposite the yard are not available as far as I know. You aren’t welcome to land on the long landing stage. But you can land at two places described in the book, one above the yard and RSA managed, and the other one is round the corner in Paglesham Pool, in about 50 yards where there is a sort of pathway across the mud on the left hand bank.

Cheers, I'll check again with the RSA in that case. I had looked on their site, but I couldn't find any specific mention of the deep-water buoys. I'd just prefer to rock up well-mannered if I can instead of not giving any thought to these things... and I had heard that due to a change in ownership that they may not even be available for use. Still, thanks for that advice, mate. I'll make some further enquires.

Much appreciated.

The slipway is a public right of way as far as I am aware so landing is always possible. The yard jetty downriver of the slipway has been controversial as to whether landing is allowed and/or charged for. The RSA have recently refurbished their own wooden walkway which is just up river of the Black Shed.

Most of the moorings downriver of the slipway are managed by a trust set up by the RSA and if empty you are welcome to pick one up. It is customary to leave someone on board in case a returning member requires their mooring and asks you to move.
