I was talking to a chap who is based at Brandy Hole a few weeks ago - asked him whether there was any change in the situation at Paglesham re. landing in your dinghy to go to the pub, and he reckoned that it was OK these days. Has anyone tried it? Any Roach SA folk on here care to comment?

I would be interesting to know if it has improved. The last time I tried, i was made very unwelcome. We eventually landed in Paglesham Pool and walked to the Plough & Sail who wanted to know if we had booked [I thought it was a pub] They grudgingly let us have a table but expected us to order a full meal. All this was about 3 or 4 years ago, not been back since.

the plough and sail is an excellent pub my wife and I have been going on and off for 3 years now never had a bad meal or service.

That's good to know, I'll give it another go soon.
BTW, I wasn't complaining about the meal or service once we were in, but about the presumption that we should have made a reservation and the sense that they were doing us a favour by allowing us to be a customer.

It's OK, but perhaps not on the pontoon which was looking pretty unmaintained when I saw it last August.

There is another spot to land, just upstream of the black shed, on a short stretch of shore managed by our friends in the RSA. There's a shortish jetty near the forward end of an old boat, bows pointing upwards.
