P!$$ poor sevice from Silverline Tools

That's a bit like saying that two drills are identical because they take the same drill bits.

Accessories generally use a standardised fitting, the same goes for power drills etc. i.e. you can use a Bosch saw blade in a Black and Decker saw. Doesn't mean that the two saws are made in the same place or are identical in any way.

But you've made your mind up so time to move on.

Those units look very similar to me.
The shape of the plastics etc.

But China has a different attitude to copying things, and to selling their designs and tools to other factories.

They are identical except for knob colour difference. However, to be fair to Draper, it did work for a couple of years before the bearings seized. Silverline still OK:) Draper was replaced with a Triton MOF001 which has built in lift for use in the table (which is where I used the Draper) but a lot more expensive.

An update from the OP: I got a call from the brand manager at Silverline who was very interested in the problem and I've received a brand new replacement by UPS today. As far as I'm concerned, they've handled the problem and all is well.
