Oxalic acid

I asked this on another thread without response so trying here. Would it be ok to use oxalic acid on the tubes of my 20 year old rib tender or would it cause damage?

I doubt that it is going to cause any problems but what do you think it will do? Oxalic acid is very specific in its effect principally in removing iron stains, it is not a general cleaning agent. I think depending on the staining other products will be more effective.

It did a super job getting rid of ingrained dirt on my deck especially the side decks. I'd used a pressure washer on it the week before with very limited affect. The tubes on my tender are yellow and badly stained.

I would think the pressure washer did the bulk of the work dislodging the dirt then the application of the Oxalic acid and its removal did the rest. However I doubt that the Oxalic acid will do any damage so nothing to lose by trying it.

Thanks. I was concerned it might affect the stitching or glue.

Just be sure to wash it off thoroughly from any areas of stitching which could be affected assuming the thread is a natural material as opposed to synthetic which wouldn't like the glue and body material which presumably is Hyperlon or similar.
