I found this stuff excellent when used as an additive to top gloss coats using paint pads. Fantastic finish. Looks like sprayed.

I have used Owatrol both as a paint conditioner and as a rust suppressant. As a paint conditioner it prevents oil paint from dragging and improves flow by maintaining a wet edge. It doesn't take much either... a couple of tablespoonfuls in a 750 ml tin.
My chrome-on-steel table pedistals got two coats of owatrol two years ago. Still rusty, but the rust is black and hasn't spread. I have also used it on brass... but too early to say if it will save on the duraglit.

I've been using it for almost 15 yrs now, and found it to be excellent (also the derivatives like "Minium" ). Have used it as a paint thinner, and by itself as a varnish on a classic wooden boat with mild steel straps etc. In the latter case, it takes a bit longer to dry, but as well as being a very acceptable varnish, it prevents rust from spreading on the iron-wood interface.
