Overwinter in a marina in the Solent?

We normally haul out every 2 years. This winter is our turn to stay in. However we're on a fairly exposed pontoon in Fareham at the mo.

I've heard deals are to be had in marinas over winter. Anyone know of any in the Portsmouth area?

If you don't mind travelling to the IOW, East Cowes had a decent offer on last winter and may be doing the same this year

Hadn't even considered Cowes. My Moody 31 would come in at 900 October to end of March which compares favourably with haul out and storage ashore.

Looks good.

Only issue I can see is that I'll need to take the car across occasionally full of tools and the like for winter maintenance. At fifty quid a trip! But I guess that's why they have a low Winter rate....

Haslar Marina is also worth looking at. Right on the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour with winter rates from 1 october through to the end of march next year.

Having spent 3 years in Haslar Marina, would highly recommend it as an alternative to hauling out, unless you have to haul out for maintenance. Good location, good showers, good 'clubhouse' (the Lightship) that also has showers and laundry. There are several excellent chandlers within easy reach and, if you like spending weekends/weeks at your boat in winter (we did) then the local town has lots to offer, or its a short ferry ride over to Pompey.
The fees may be up the high end, but we always felt it was worth it - there's a 'winter community' there, too....had some great Christmas and New Year parties!
