The Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) report into the loss of the yacht Ouzo and her crew in the English Channel in August last year is due to be published tomorrow. Alongside the 50-page report will be published three ‘flyers’ summarizing the lessons learned from the investigation.
As we reported in PBO April issue, manslaughter charges have been brought against 61-year-old Michael Hubble, the Second Officer of the Pride of Bilbao, a P&O ro-ro ferry operating from Portsmouth to Bilbao, Spain. His trial starts on October 29 at Winchester Crown Court.
A spokesman for the MAIB said that the report does not apportion blame for the incident, its purpose is to highlight lessons and publicise the findings at the earliest possible time.
Read the report and the three flyers on www.pbo.co.uk or www.maib.gov.uk from midnight tonight.
