Whilst working on the engines on my Sealine 285, I increased the throttle on the starboard engine at the engine end. There was no one on the helm. The gearbox engaged drive ahead; whilst there was no damage as the boat was well tied up, I am concerned about this. I suspect a similar thing happened as I was berthing later. Is there any adjustment on the cable that goes between the controls and the gearbox that should be checked? I presume that it can stretch over time like the throttle cable. Anyone offer advice?

spookey, same boat same problems! We have had this with both out boats and yes I would say it is down to ajustment, you can ajust the gear cable on the leg by removing the cover.

We have had similar issues but are still realing from a much worse fault with one of our legs resulting in a rebuild...ouch! Still it is almost back together now and will hopefuly be working fine!

Good luck, if you need any info from the work shop manuals let me know!
