Well yes, clearly the wizzy thing goes in the water but transporting it in the car?
The manual has a nice picture which is ok but that means laying it with the handle up (ok so far) but that means the carburettor is down and it has a small pipe that goes across the top which then has a short length of plastic tube. This allows fuel to come out of the carb and all over the back of the car. I do not believe you all carry it with no fuel in it neither do I believe you all stick a clothes peg over the pipe.
Please advise.
If it is any help it is a four stroke Honda which I have yet to use.

You'll find, if your Honda is anything like mine a 2.3hp that there a couple of resting places on the opposite side to the handle and as you say that's the side to store it on. I carry mine with fuel in it, sometimes the whizzy thing is up, sometimes down. It doesn't seem to matter either way.

There is only one way to carry or transport a Honda 4 stroke on its side and that is handle side up with the engine resting on its traveling lugs. Any other way will cause the oil to flow out of the sump and give BIG problems. Run the carb empty before transporting it or have a stand and transport it upright.

I usually run it a bit after turning off the fuel to drain the carb., it seems a very clean engine compared with previous 2-strokes I have owned which usually seemed to dribble oil from the exhaust or somewhere when laid down.

...if you haven't used it yet beware the centrifugal clutch takes a bit of getting used to /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I carry mine in the boot of the car with the carb. uppermost. Otherwise it gets oiled up. As you say this means it is sitting on the arm which is rather daft.

I've never managed to drain the fuel from the carb. Mine will run forever with the tap off. I cover it with a large plastic bag to avoid too much fumes in the car.

BTW the other day I felt really sleepy driving back from the boat. I discovered later that the can of acetone in the boot was now completely empty. Bit scary really.

[/ QUOTE ] I dont know which engines you are specifically referring to but the manuals for the smaller ones ( BF2, BF2.3 BF5) all specifically say that they should be transported lying on their sides with the tiller ("steering arm") uppermost. The 6 and 8 hp models however should be tansported the other way up, ie resting on the same side as the tiller.
