Outboard - tilt ?

Hi,

This may have been asked before but I can't find anything.

I have a Honda 40 four stroke outboard on the Norfolk Broads. When leaving the boat for a week or two should I leve it in the water or tilt until it is out of the water ?

Any thoughts appreciated.

G'day Michael,

Outboard engines should be left out of the water.

This will reduce corrosion from electrolysis
Reduce fouling with weed and barnacle growth
Reduce the risk of water ingress

just recived my new tohatsu & they recomend leaving in the water

Probably so that it will need servicing to keep someone in work.
