Don’t do it th more shit the out board looks less likely to be stolen

Tell that to my pal in Langstone ... he hand painted - roughened up outboard on back of his motorboat ... even bolted / locked etc. Thet 'chainsawed' the transom to remove and steal the motor. We had to go out and salvage the boat as it sunk.

The original post is where to get decals ... as already answered : eBay has them ...

You could also go to a shop that produces decals - you basically give them a JPG and the size wanted - they then cut vinyl decals.

As to the risk of theft - that is real ... as outboards are worth money and extremely difficult for Police to find - prove ownership. You can make a record of the ID plate and serial number .. you can get engraved into a standing part - your chosen Identifier and decal stating its marked etc.
Painting the cover - a replacement cover would not be so hard for thief to get - getting from outside the theft area would not be a red flag.
