Inspired by Gurnards videos we towed the rib with the sib in the car to Loch Lomond. School boy errors as I overloaded the Mondeo, Disco went into limp mode 5 times and camp site would not allow boats to be kept in them something to do with the Council Licence which I have never known before.

Sorted the boat thing and had a good first day on the Loch. Disco well that is a Disco for you

Short video of day one and two below

Sticking turbo actuator by any chance??

Going over the Balloch Bridge to the marina makes me feel homesick, I lived a little further up the road you were on past the entrance to Balloch Park. The marina used to belong to Tom Lynn and is where we kept our boat in the 60s and 70s The hotel on the left is where we had our wedding reception, the Lynns used to run the mail service on the Loch and had a fleet of launches.
The paddle steamer is The Maid of the Loch, not Lady of the Loch :)

wd40 isn't a lube though its water displacement, wouldn't it be better to spray it with a silicone lubricant of some kind maybe the 3-in-1 stuff made by the same company as that is a proper lube

3 in 1 oil is the better option along with a telescopic magne to work the actuator back and forwards. WD is better than nothing.

The issue is the rod goes through a brass collar which seizes up….usually giving an overboost as you lift off. Spray and working it defo helps……impossible to hit the issue area directly

Split boost rubber pipe is another disco favourite

wouldn't the overall solution be to remove the turbo actuator/internal waste gate and fit an inline one perhaps with a light spring in it i'm betting the built in turbo is only on a 2-3 psi actuator anyway :)

Probably but not easy on holiday with limited tools and oils ?

Body off is the easiest way to get to the turbo

That wee fletcher is mine. Your boat is sitting behind me now ! Thanks for not showing the dirt on her, haha. Still needing her clean and polish !

As a Disco owner can you amplify - with reference to MY and engine :)

It’s my second Disco, third if you include the Sport (let’s not); the thing with Discos is they lull you into a sense of false security, all is well, and then bam - straight into demanding mode ;)

Where are you staying ? I’m out on the Loch just now. Lovely evening
We are in the wood leisure holiday park. Compared to my Disco and little Rib your Fletcher is very clean and tidy a lovely example as well. Looks like you look after her very well. The one I had was the 3 ltr inboard. It was good but I am more of an outboard kind of guy

You got that right. There is so much to love about them but to trust them is another thing. So many of them sold and has a huge following you would think Landrover would get it right one day.

All the 2.7 did the turbo thing

From memory, late MY 06 - early 08 crack the oil pump casing after a belt change as an idler is mounted on the casing. The new, tighter belt makes it go boom!

I had an 07 and land rover agreed to provide an updated oil pump when the belt was changed FOC. The later ones have more webbing in the casting.

Have the gearbox mega flushed every 75k too.

I loved mine…..till it span a crank bearing ??
