Re: What about a sail past

Great fun takes a good day to build, needs a flat sea, river or a lake to sail on. Put one on your xmas list /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Re: What about a sail past

I was thinking about a nice flat marina when the sea gates are shut. Thought it would be really cool to have a model of my (similar) boat pottering about around it's big sister. Anyway if it breaks down I can always go and get it with the tender.

Do you really reckon you can build it in a day? What about painting it and how much can I budget for the RC stuff, motor etc.

Re: BarryH / Tr7v8

RC30 Barry lovely thats not what you call the porker surely
"Now I just take the porker to track days with a load of other nutters"

Until recently had lots of racey bikes the final one being an SP1, which I basically cut in half (and nearly myself) in a big wipe out.

No more racers now, get about up to town on my trusty PC800 (PC plod as shes known) not fantastic but dry and with masses of storage space. Bit like my boat really, and handles very similar

TR7V8 you also like messing about on Perkins as well as V****s Jim, don't you?

Re: What about a sail past

But Kev. Would it not be easier to go and play with the radio controled Articulated trucks over on the Freeport side of the marina. You can put the trailors on then press a button and take them off again. Get all the trailors parked up in nice neat rows. Much more fun than steaming round Fleetwood dock.IMHO/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Re: What about a sail past

Add another £50 for the basic rc set with the servo's. You then need a dual quick charge battery charger for Ni-cad batteries (takes 1/2 hour to charge from boat electrics (cigarette lighter socket) or mains electric so need a couple of batteries to keep you going @ £20-£40 each they last about 6 minutes.
You don't paint the boats as you add transfers and glue on the other bits.

Re: What about a sail past

Haydn you are only jealous coz you can't get a model of a Princess...

Now who can I get to run up some mini net curtains for the aft cabin.

Re: BarryH / Tr7v8

To be totally honest I enjoy messing about with anything mechanical, especially if I am not committed to using it the following morning and completing it in the peeing rain, snow etc. Worst experience was changing an Astra van handbrake cable in the snow one evening because I needed it for work the next morning.

Just finished spraying all the heat exchangers and header tanks for the Volvo's and they look superb, just wondering what name to stencil on the front over the V£$lv( P£$t" logo. Any suggestions, Mercruiser, Jaguar, Rover, Perkins err no not the last!

Knocking Mr Perkins how dare you. Logo how about Porsche impress the landlubbers they wont knoe what engines go in boats.

Your other point about conditions whilst working on engines, least the Broom has
full shelter, nice heater, wireless, tea, sight of my legs, net curtains, pot noddles etc

If you gave me a P*t N**dl* in heavy seas you can guarantee it'd end up as fish food. IMHO etc.

Re: BarryH / Tr7v8

No the porker is an elderly 924S with a few tweeks, well lots actually, its the only 924 I know that will top 150mph without the rev limiter cutting in. The RC's great on a dry road with no braindead BMW 3 series drivers around. Go's like a bat with a mustard bottle up its jack's. The XR is great fun on the mud, mind you I reckon B1 can tell when I go passed his place on the way to the green lanes, I lost most of the baffle plates for the supertrap!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not slagging the supermoto thing, but Why! Take dirt bike and get rid of the dirt bits and put roady bits on. Neither one or the other, What have I missed and where did I go wrong!!

Re: BarryH / Tr7v8

I haven't been to "The Hill" for ages. It used to be good but now its all born again bikers on their harley lookalikes. When I went there it wasn't called Rykas, it wea more of a tea'n'burger shack type of place. It went down hill, no pun intended, when they made the road from leatherhead into single lane and stuck the speed camera's up. Spent many a sunday sparking the pegs and popping the front skywards. Nearly lost the wife the first time I took her on a bike, well she wasn't the wife then.

Ah! those were the days, aircooled RD's, Kwaka 2 stroke triples and all the Z'eds with harris four into ones. Hoards of FS1E's with spannies sounding like a haord of ruptured knats and plod not kowing who to pull next.........christ I feel old!

Re: BarryH / Tr7v8

Re: BarryH / Tr7v8

If I'm down there I'll go and have a look, but 116 miles to go have a pint and a look at the bikes is a bit much. Its a good turnout though and loads of bikes of all different sorts. You don't seem to get the modified bikes that you used to tho. Plenty of race replica's but not the way we used to do it. Its all paint and plastic now. Looked at a Bimota today with the Yam V twin lump in it. Talking to the bloke that owned it, he reckoned that it was far more capable than he was, basically his bottle went before the bike did. Nice piece of kit.
