We are planning to visit Ostend voor Anker this May. How easy is it to get a berth in one of the yacht clubs? . We were thinking of arriving Wednesday and coming back overnight Sunday. All tips gratefully received.

If you are going that early then you should get into Montgomery Dock. If you are lucky you could be stern to against the wall but sometimes it has been rafting up on the pontoons, several deep. It a great place to be. Only boat exhibiting can go through the lock ( unless things have changed, which I doubt).
Great weekend.
I’ve got a couple of the big flags but never done anything with them. I feel a winter project coming on..,,,,

I remember sailing in company back with you a few years ago Roger when the weather piped up.... as it always does. i was trapped there for a week last year with really strong winds.

We always go further up to the yacht club at the end, less busy but a bit of a walk....

As Roger says, if your boat is over 40 yrs old i think it is, you can get a spot in the inner marina bit as a feebie. ours qualifies but dont like being trapped in there till the end.

When I went, a couple of days early it coincided with a race fleet gathering there so the harbour was rammed full with rafted boats. But as ever we found a space and when the fleet left next day we got a good spot along the quay wall. Brilliant weekend.

Just had a look at the club’s events calendar: the weekend before Oostende voor anker there is a club race, so nothing out of the ordinary.
