Orwell Yacht Club ; Dinghy washed up

Walking the dog on the beach at Felixstowe near the Fludyers Hotel this morning I noticed a wooden dinghy washed up, looks in quite a bad way with the hull split. White with OYC 2017 and 2018 stickers on the hull near the stern.

That will be Jeff Peter's tender to Blue Shoal. He lost it while taking Blue Shoal back round to Orwell YC after her launch on Wednesday afternoon from Robertsons at Woodbridge.

He was talking about finding a replacement tender. Sounds like he will have to get one sooner than he thought now...

Not sure how the tender came adrift as the tow rope and securing knot were still intact but I could not recover it as it drifted into shallows with a strong onshore breeze. The loss was reported to the coastguard straight away. The tender was reported to OYC as being washed up and severely damaged at Felixtowe pier so I went to clear up the debris but there was none to be seen so I assume the council has cleared it.

It is still there this morning - in front of the Spa theatre - badly split and half full of shingle!

I retrieved the dinghy on Monday and took it to the tip inside its replacement
