Tell yer this though.
The Orkney wont sail too well.
Tiss a cracking sea boat for it's size.
Got no underneath sticky down bits.
Maybe a set up like the Vikings had might work.
Best little saily boat I ever had was a Wayfarer.
Good thought tho!
Anyway, back to the Mobo stuff

Probably the simplest solution would be to attach a wooden false keel around 150mm deep. Wont be brilliant to windward, but it should work.

The simplest solution would be to buy a small sailing boat!!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif: The Orkney is an excellent hull for what it does,: motoring with an outboard. The characteristics that make it good for that job will almost certainly make it a dog to sail. If you need a boat that size that can sail and motor get a drascombe lugger or similar.
On the otherhand if all you want is a jaunty aft raked mast to make the boat look good, and a sail plan for downwind sailing only.........don't let anyone stop you from amusing yourself.
ps What were you intending to do with the engine when you fit a rudder?
Buy a sailing boat! Brilliant. Trouble is a drascombe costs a lot and has a lot of strings that interfere with fishing. Have sprit rig in mind, not going racing, just trolling downind quietly fishing. Either centre rudder and engine on lifting bracket, or double rudder, or adapt outboard. probably leave keel alone, if wind blows wrong way, start engine!
