ORIGO Heat Pal Spirit heater

Are these spirit heaters any good? do they smell? Can it keep the cabin warm?
What is your expereince?

They are basically half of an Origo 3000 cooker. Uses same guts but only one. Smell will depend on the fuel used, Meths or Alcohool Brulee.

From my position of no experience with cabin heaters. I must wonder why have a separate Origo heater when you could use a burner of your Origo (or similar) cooker. A chimney would be desirable and perhaps a small fan to recirculate air down to the floor would help.
I suppose much depends on how much you live in the boat in cold weather. olewill

I've seen the model - Origo 5100 which is priced at £125 - and it's a lot cheaper than an eberspacher for the odd cold night

i get a lot of heat from my coleman petrol lamp and the small oil lamp seems to throw out some heat as well so it might well be a good source of heat

i'd like to know if anyone has found these useful before i buy one

doesn't using the ordinary hotplate (in my case a gas one) cause lots of condensation?
