I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. 18750 litres of water is nothing, it's about half of what's in my pool at home. In any marine environment, especially with a current, the danger to marine life is negligible.

Wet and Forget is benzalkonium chloride , Like Patio Magic. There will be no difference in performance

Just trying to quantify it somewhat so people can make their mind up as to the environmental impact in a more informed way.

I share the frustration of the OP at the green slime.
On my boat it was almost all where ropes were touching the deck, so my solution was to get everything off the deck.
Short lengths of hose under the lines running back to the cockpit to raise them up and other lines coiled and hung of the boom.
I'm sure I'll pay a penalty is a winters worth of wear and UV exposure but it seemed like the best compromise given my circumstances didn't allow me time to mouse and remove the lines.
 
Personally I scrub and wash down with sea water and don't have a problem.
It is the fresh water that the plant life want. We don't water our veg patch with sea water. -same reason, kills the plants.
 
As PVB said, 18 750 litres is really a pretty small amount of water. When I kept my boat in Kip Marina I made an estimate of the amount of water entering the marina from the river Kip. Admittedly this was during a spate. The amount was in the region of 50 000 litres. Per SECOND!

Ah, so the weed and green stuff which grows on the hull is just confused and thinks it isn't in seawater?
 
Well anyway, even if I had used some of the Patio Magic (type) stuff this year, which I haven't, but might. The incriminating "run off" would struggle to contaminate the oceans of the world. The boat's been ashore all year. ?
 
For me, seawater.

But if it's going to be more than a couple of weeks... it's either patio magic or similar...

Or has anyone tried white vinegar?
 
Can I say one last time, and then I will shut up, Borax.

Readily avaialble buy in powder, cheaper than Patiomagic and from all I can see much less toxic.

I always used Patiomagic but switched to Borax and find it more effective, so there!

It does take longer to get rid of the green if it is already there, so be patient, but it also seems to last a lot longer.
 
Where does it come from? Maybe your neighbours boat or nearby vegetation. It appears to lurk in un cleaned nooks and crannies under the gunwhales in ropes etc and thrives in shady areas that never fully dry. Possibly spreading exponentially. I make a point of tackling odd spots when the boat comes out of the water with a gentle wipe of bleach on a sponge. This seems to help kill it off before it gets a hold.
 
A cup of BIOLOGICAL washing powder in a bucket of warm water, you don't even need to make a special trip to the hardware shop to buy it!
