Ore buoys in?

We're off to Butley Creek a week Saturday and wondered if the buoys were in - it's a no no if they're not.

Damn, really fancied it. Other suggestions for 10 days? Bored with Deben, Orwell and Sour.
 
Tollesbury swimming pool re-opens May 1st after winter closure so no good for Easter.
Re Transeurope discounts, Fox's not mentioned in 2014 brochure - are they still in it?
 
Just rejoined but we don't get our card until June. Southwold a bit go-there-and-come-back-again if you know what I mean. I suppose we could follow an Ore fisherman in ha ha.

I really don't fancy the Wallet but I suppose it'll have to be.
 
Nice idea but how far can we go with the mast up? Don't one of those ports charge a lot for yacht entry?
 
My son took his Westerly Tiger (draft 4'3") into the Broads at Lowestoft last year. He really enjoyed it. He did not get a weeks licence and the patrol boat did approach him at one stage but he was tacking up a river in a breeze so they shouted that they would see him again, but didn't!!!!
The only cost (I think) should be that licence which will cost you £47.30 for a week, as you are no more than 10 metres!!?!

I hope to go later this year. How far you can go with mast up has been covered before on these forums, suggest you search Norfolk Broads.

Philip Attwood, Orford Quay, tells me that Orford Haven has only just been surveyed, this week. So although they might be on station by Easter, it's a bit unlikely they'll go in next week.
As at Woodbridge Haven, it looks as if the entrance will not be very different to last year, possibly because we haven't had that many easterly gales this winter.

If you go into the Broads via Lowestoft/Oulton Broad, with mast up, when you get to the Waveney you can go downstream (north) as far as Somerleyton railwat bridge, or upstream (west) as far as Beccles. Deep water in both directions. (You can't get through to the Yare with your mast up.) You will have to negotiate bridge opening times at Lowestoft/Oulton, and go through the lock from Outlon Broad into Oulton Dyke and 'The Broads' proper (I think the lock used to be a tenner). I would think it would be quite a fun thing to do with a young family.

The alternative entry into the Broads is via Great Yarmouth (a dump of a harbour, avoid stopping), but once past the 2 Yarmouth bridges (book lift in advance) you can go all the way up the Yare to Norwich, with various minor diversions available. Again quite a fun thing to do.

Don't think either would be feasible for a weekend trip only, if that's what you're planning. Otherwise, lots of places to stop - e.g. many free 24 Broads Authority moorings scattered about (watch out for overhanging trees!), pubs, boatyards/marinas, and various atttractions/distractions to visit. The Broads Authority navigation rangers are very helpful (but will also check whether you have bought a licence!).
