I have been using a random orbital sander on the rubbing strake and the sanding disc (hook and loop) keeps flying off. The disc sticks beautifully when unused but after a short while in use it sticks no more. Help!

Get yourself a cheap (£9.99) 1/3 sheet sander with proper metal clips at each end. The sandpaper's also cheaper by the roll, even if designed for 1/2 sheet sanders. Probably pay for itself before breaking down. Use ear defenders with the cheap ones though - my 'Challenge' 1/3 sheet sander is almost as noisy as my router.

Regards

Richard.

Get yourself a rubber backing pad and use self adhesive discs, the discs are cheaper as well. Hook and loop are fine if you are changing between grades constantly and need to reuse the discs.

Buy a sander from B&Q, continally take the sander back to for replacement as they do not have the backing pads available for the cheaper sanders. Just claim it is new and faulty.
