I have aquired an Optimus 155 twin hob stove which has cleaned up a treat. I have tested it with Coleman Fuel (unleaded petrol based), but am concerned as I think I should be using parafin. Can anyone advise me please on what fuel I should use? Thanks Graham

Thank you all, I shall get some paraffin and give that a go. Just need to get practising my lighting procedure as so far the flames have been rather high where I have not preheated the burner sufficiently! Cheers G

Welcome to the forum.

I have one of these and it is a great stove. The cleanest fuel is called Lamp Oil from a good hardware shop and burns almost smellessly (is there such a word?). Its a bit more expensive than paraffin but well worth it. Paraffin does smell a bit.

The best method of lighting I have found to be a small gas blowlamp with a built in Piezo Lighter. I got mine at Homebase. Give the burner a really good 1 minute blast and it never fails to clean light. No nasty smell of meths either. I always carry a spare cartridge for the blowlamp but they are very economical.

I hope you got the gimbals for it, if a sailing boat
