This has been sat near us all this week

Looks interesting as seems to be a on shafts and e motors , as well as a modern take on the “trawler yacht “ theme .
interesting design features the Passerelle is multi use , steps up , down and it rotates out .
Synthetic “ teak “ .
FB steps are on the bow end .
High bulwarks.
etc etc
Should at 37 ft and sans VP outdrives malarkey , + a bit of e powered running , fake teak be a low running cost going Fwds boat .

No idea where it sits price wise , but it seems a correct direction of travel .Are you watching Fairline ;) ?

My wife read a report to me today on how much carbon is released as a result of making lithium batteries.
If that report is true, SOMEONE NEEDS TO BE TOLD.
And we need to stop forcing electric solutions on the public.
I'm not saying that petrol or diesel should be the alternative.
Just that lithium batteries aren't the solution.
10 years later, we will be trying to get rid of old lithium batteries into land fill etc - pointless.
IMHO, hydrogen (powering internal combustion engines) might be a better option for the planet.
Maybe we should be concentrating the development on cheap solutions to create hydrogen.

That would be smashing...but its a scale problem.

Basically, right now, there is no hydrogen.

Worldwide we are burning 100 million barrels of oil a day.

To equal that with hydrogen we need to cover the sahara with solar. Use that to create hydrogen, convert to ammonia for logistics.

Batteries are a stepping stone while other technologies scale.

it all depends upon where the battery is made and where the electricity comes from.
batteries made in areas with high levels of renewables are quite different. Plus once a battery is made it is useful for a long time after being in a car or whatever. Burn diesel and it's gone!

If you look no so carefully you can see ripples in the slab sides of sheet metal not obvious in the pics posted .
Obviously not quite like a beaten up like well past its sell by date U.K. type 42 destroyer from the 70s cod wars. :) , but I wonder how it’s gonna age ??

Anyways from the website
“Entirely made of aluminum: noble material, light, durable, fireproof and 100% recyclable.
BOATING
CHANGE ITS COURSE
Electric propulsion: we anticipate the future, first of all by respecting the environment. In the Electric Mode only, No emissions - No noises - Low power consumption and Reduced maintenance.

The vision of Opera Prima Mare? ... Become a reference for discerning boaters.”

Is it fireproof really thinking Falklands Alloy ships after a Exocet strike , Sheffield, Coventry et al .

More pics from the web site .
Looks man hrs toppy to me ?
Is plastic resin easier less of a skill level to appear good ? Or are the really good moulders $hit hot super skilled ? Thinking up to 140 ( or what ever ? ) S/Sker like Blush .

I guess fibreglass is less eco in terms of disposability, they reckon the AL can be recycled FWIW .

Bet it’s a slammer in a chop with its tea tray dead-rise stern sections :) .But happy to park that finer nuance for now .

The website doesnt say.

Apparently its aluminium, has a pair of 400hp engines and does 30 knots.
?
so you stick 2X400hp diesels for 30kn and 2X20kw electrics for 8kn and you have a hybrid
OK, so one can kid the others to no end...
and the geny to charge the battery bank for the 10min @8kn electrics.
If that's not pointless, I really don't know what is!

Would be much more fair to have the two 20kw electrics, a smart generator and lots of batteries for some decent (pointless) range.

why is it such a horrible skin tone aswell.... it is butt ugly.
If you're intent on modernising powertrains etc then you don't necesarily have to mess with the classic lines of a boat.

It's very much the same with early hybris cars - they felt the need to duistinguish themselves by looking 'quirky'. Car manufacturers now seem to have woken up to the fact that to reinvent the drivetrain you don't have to reinvent the rest of the vehicle...

I dont see it ugly nor pretty. Still much nicer to a Pininfarina designed X-95 if you know what I mean....

The purpose of the electric engines is that with them you can navigate in the protected areas, which you cant with conventional combustion power.

+1
The last pic has a Frauscher .in the foreground.Arguably a similiar marmite boat appearance wise but on outdrives Mercs + Yanmars .

But which one going Fwds will be the lower ownership prospect ?
Different boats for different strokes !

I must admit I do not see a problem with fibre glass per se , but I would worry my self awake at night thinking through the electrochemical side of Al , its coating(s) , zincs , Marina piles , leaky bilge senders , neighbours failed electrotwackery that might effect that scratch on mine , bubbling paint the week the warranty ran out etc etc .

No I insist good manners you go first mate ;) .
I mean I wish them well etc but the new owners need to be either arty farty none scientific types who have never heard of the word anode or just swallowed a huge dose of “ brave pills “ .

Deja vue al la IPS , it’s Darwinism someone has to have a go for the benefit of the species .

It ain’t gonna be me .
