Opencpn V3.0.0 released.

Doesn't run on an XP SP2 platform so my strategy of using older, less Amp-demanding computers has discriminated against me - sob

What's the error message? Should work on XP.

I've got it running on the Raspberry Pi drawing less than 1W.

Does OpenCPN have a windows based program for georeferencing?

I'm guessing in the dark here so what I say may have no value :) Probably depends what your trying to do, this page suggests that OCPN has no built in tools. I use GPSU to handle waypoint format differences between various tools - other folk use it for all sorts of strange things so might be worth a look.

There is a little app called imgkap.exe. I have scanned parts of my own paper charts as BMP's then georeferenced them creating kap files and finally added to Open CPN successfully.

I've successfully used IMGKAP.EXE to georeference .PNG image files extracted from Memory Map charts. Barring finger trouble it's very accurate and the result is a perfect digital raster chart for OpenCPN.
FYI. It's also possible to update your charts by editing the .PNG file using image editing software such as Gimp.

Ok a question from the program challenged.

I have the Polar Navy charts which I cannot get to run on Open cpn. I have downloaded the new V3 but still no joy.

Is there anybody out there that knows how to use these files on Ocpn ?? A virtual drink for anybody that can help :)

Tom

In v3 it is done differently see:

Using an alternative data set

tc.png

Down load WXTides.zip from http://fserv.skill-club.com/get_1088_156a.html
For Win XP, the folder it goes in is in:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\opencpn\UserTCData
You have to create [UserTCData]
NOT in the \Program Files\OpenCPN
Note: my path was NOT OpenCPN_Conf, just opencpn
I have renamed the tcdata folder in the zip file to WXTides

Yes, WXTides :)

Any idea if they've got current and tides working on Macs yet? I've had a trawl through Cruisers Forum but can't find anything...
